Recognizing the need for a more rapid process to fund civil society organizations while bigger, longer-term projects are organized, the Rapid Funding Envelope (RFE) was established in 2002 by the Tanzania Commission for AIDS and donor partners. Now that the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, the World Bank Multi-sectoral HIV/AIDS Project, the Clinton Foundation, and the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief are bringing massive support for HIV/AIDS programs in Tanzania, the RFE focuses on filling gaps in technical and geographical support, funding innovations, testing replication, and supporting institutional strengthening. more »
